An apartment for a family of four was an opportunity to create an apartment that takes advantage of dramatic views of the city while being an intimate environment for family life. The fan-shaped plan is laid out in a series of spaces along the window wall that each have distinct views and light conditions. Curves and shallow angles are used to smooth transitions between spaces and create a sense of fluid movement from one space to another. A restrained material palette of oak floors and cabinetry, subtly lightened with a white oil wash, and white painted plaster creates a sense of quiet calm and luminosity.
