Three screens are introduced into an existing loft living space to create implied programmatic zones. The first, a diaphanous fabric box lit by fiber optics is located between the living and dining spaces. Its transparency and visual weight vary with the change of natural and artificial light. The second, a double-sided wall of bookshelves with an acoustic glass layer defines a private study while adding a wash of color to the light passing through.
The third, a motorized scrim at the kitchen masks the work area during dinners and gatherings. Printed with a work commissioned from the artist Julien Bismuth, the screen becomes both mobile artwork and backdrop for social events.
