ADAA ART SHOW
Bade Stageberg Cox designed The Art Show at the Park Avenue Armory, organized by the Art Dealers Association of America to benefit Henry Street Settlement.
BSC’s design is a contemporary homage to the period grandeur of the Armory - with elements that reference the fabric of the historic building. For the entry hall, we created a lounge area defined by pendant lighting and chainmail curtains, with patterns of light projected upwards to enliven the wood paneling. The procession of visitors from the entry to the gallery world of the Drill Hall is lined by a carpet runner whose pattern echoes that on the ceiling in the Board of Officers Room. Another textile intervention—a custom hanging tapestry—highlights the entrance to the cafés, updating a traditional art form for a warm welcome.
BSC collaborated with the Dutch company Moooi on the lighting and custom textile installations. Moooi’s mission to make environments beautiful and inspiring resonates with BSC’s design of the fair—merging past with present to create a stimulating environment in which to experience art.
